What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an innovative system for correcting minor to moderate orthodontic issues. When Invisalign was first introduced, it completely changed the way we approached orthodontic treatment. Traditional bracket and wire braces hadn’t really changed in decades, so Invisalign was on the leading edge of technology.
Invisalign and traditional braces have nothing in common except they both correct misalignment issues. Instead of brackets and wires to move teeth, Invisalign uses a series of comfortable plastic aligner trays to nudge teeth gently into proper position. The smooth plastic won’t irritate mouth tissue, and since they’re clear, the aligners blend discreetly with your smile. Best of all, you can remove your aligners to eat and when you brush and floss.
Dr. Anu Amara is a certified Invisalign provider and starts the process with an evaluation to understand the extent of your misalignment and how Invisalign can help. She takes images and x-rays of your teeth that are used to develop your treatment plan. We then send this information to an Invisalign lab where your aligners are created.
You will receive several sets of aligners along with instructions to wear each set at least 22 hours a day for about two weeks. Then just switch to the next set of aligners and continue the process until we have achieved the desired results.
Invisalign is convenient and comfortable, so treatment fits your busy lifestyle. If you would like to learn more about the process, please call our Frisco, TX dental office to schedule a consultation.
